The practice has a system for the follow up and review of tests and results. Pathology tests are generally received electronically from the pathologist into a secure mailbox. These results are reviewed by a doctor in a timely manner, marked electronically, and transfered into the patients health record. Results that are deemed urgent are marked urgent and the patient contacted to make an appointment as soon as possible. It should be noted however, that all patients are encouraged to make a follow-up appointment to review results are the time of the initiating consultation and should not rely on being contacted about abnormal results. The practice does not encourage notification of test results by phone, fax or email, unless deemed appropriate in some circumstances by Dr Tingate. All patients should ensure that their contact details are available in the health record, including a mobile phone number and email address. Other test correspondence received by mail, fax, or email is reviewed within 1 business day, signed and regularly transfered in a timely manner to the patient record by electronic scanning or the original. We have a written policy describing the review, management and follow-up of pathology results, imaging reports, investigation reports and clinical correspondence received by our practice |
